“When I hear politicians talk about speed enforcement cameras, the first word that comes into my head is, rubbish”
“It doesn’t change patterns, it doesn’t change driving behaviour”
“The immediate impact of getting pulled over by the police right away, that’s what’s going to change driving habits”
“It’s darker earlier, the weather is changing, not for the better. Driving habits still remain the same. Pedestrians seem to think that they’ve got some force field around them that’s going to protect them… and traditionally you’ll see more pedestrians hit in the fall and the winter than any other time of the year.”
“School zones and playground zones that’s where are most precious resources are, and that’s kids. We have to make sure they’re safe”
“That type of enforcement is not done enough. They’ll do it at the start of the school year…that should be throughout the whole school year, the whole calendar year. Not just one week to go ‘hey send the media out, take pictures‘. When was the last time anybody really saw speed enforcement in any playground or school zone in their community?”
